Hi There, I have been using Linux for a long time now & love it.
But after all this time I have never created a DVD & have struggled to find or google for a howto or what software to use.
I have transfered a "DvD" to "DIVX/MPEG-4" Using DEVEDE & now I am stuck trying to work how to put DIVX/MPEG4 onto a DVD so I can watch it on my TV .
I have looked at K3B ,but am not sure what option to use
I am also wondering if "DvD" could of been put on a DVD & played on a Home DVD player connected to TV without transfering it to dvix ,as I chose dvix because my DVD player has divx support.
AnyWay can K3B or another software available on Linux do the job for me.?
AnyOne-thanks
Is That Right.? I downloaded it from a Torrent.
Does that mean you cant watch it at all or can you still watch from your harddrive.
I need to know these things as I am a Christian & if I can watch from my Harddrive or put on my DVD Recorder Harddrive which has a Hardrive to watch it on my TV once & then delete it ,is that OK." as that would do me.
If you downloaded a movie from a torrent than it is probably copyright infringement and I imagine the moderators will close this thread since LQ does not endorse that kind of thing.
If for example that the movie you downloaded was not copyrighted (public domain) then you could use transcode to make the movies into mpg2 files and use dvdauthor to create a DVD filesystem to playback on a regular DVD player.
Thanks- I think I know what your saying, I think I will look into it a lot more.
I actually just looked up what "axxo" means for example & its some guy who uses that name on the movies he uploads,
I just thought that because there are so many Big name Torrent sites actually advertising their movies etc to download that surly if it was illegal that they would be knocked out.
Anyway I will do some research & if its wrong I will wipe it off my PC. I just cant believe they havnt been Sued
Please excuse the rudeness of some of the posters here. The world is like this. There is a percentage of people that are mean. Unfortunately, I have a feeling it is growing. Luckily there is an option to ignore user.

NAH' Sorry MonctonJohn, You may have posted at the same time as I posted that, as I didnt say you were rood because of what you said , I thought at the time it was rood because I didnt think you were going to answer my post as I sincerley wanted to know the facts on wether you can still watch it , if you watch it from your PC harddrive & not burn it on a DVD etc.
I was wondering if there is a technicallity or not as I have already decided to not download Movies or Anything I think or Suspect is Illegal from now on.
In fact I'm glad I posted this & got your answer before I watched the movie.
The thing that sucked me in is the way they Advertise Movies etc on these Torrent sites as though your looking at a Movie ad in a Magazine etc.
AnyWay
Hey man.Im guessing that the torrent you downloaded is an .avi?If you have the devede app installed (and all its dependencies),you should easily be able to make a dvd disc that will play in your home dvd machine.I do it all the time.If devede is not working try opening a terminal and start the program from there by typing devede.Any missing dependencies will be reported in the terminal. If you are using a debian based system apt should have installed them when you installed devede. If not you will have to get them by yourself. This is when it can get tricky with dependencies having dependencies. The usua suspects would be ffmpeg, mplayer, transcode, dvdauthor, spumux, and all the codecs such as lame for mp3 and xvid for avi.I installed all of these on Slackware which took some time but it all works sweet now.I hope this is helpful.Whether or not you decide to go ahead and download torrents is your choice man.All the best..
