i try to rpm httpd-devel-2.0.40-11
and i get an error
error: Failed Dependencies:
/usr/bin/perl is needed by httpd-devel-2.0.40-11
perl >=0:5.003 is needed by httpd-devel-2.0.40-11
perl(strict) is needed by httpd-devel-2.0.40-11

anyone can suggest anything.

when i typed perl -v in shell to see if i have it installed, i got
This is perl, v5.8.0 built .....

how was perl installed? if it was rpm like this file see what package is acutlaly reported (rpm -qa | grep perl) if it was not installed by rpm then as long as you are confident it is installed correctly then you should be fine to --nodeps the rpm command. also is the perl binary definitly /usr/bin/perl?
