I tried ReactOS in VMware and now VMware is running really slow
 

I tried running ReactOS on my VMware and it crashed with a VMware error message about a processor malfunction. Since then other operating systems have been running really slow. Everything is slower, like clocks and timers taking about four seconds to count one second and the slide-out menus slide out really slowly and operating systems take several times longer to install than they did before.

I even tried unistalling VMware and reinstalling, but it's still just as slow.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

I don't think it uninstalled completely because when I reinstalled, the same VMs were open as before I uninstalled it.

Does anyone know how to completely remove any trace of VMware so I can start over again?

Well, you un-installed it completely from global point of view (not traces in shared system files). It left user settings in your $HOME/.vmware . Rename it to make it forget all per-user settings.

No, it must be more than that, because it is still running really slow. For instance, the start menu in Windows 98 takes like three seconds to slide up. It was not like that before the ReactOS CPU error.

You mean that it must be more than just package re-installation or more than removal of user settings? Technically, as VMWare has its own kernel modules, it has enough access to ruin anything, but maybe it just remembered (in user settings) that it needs to emulate more and virtualize (while executing big chunks on main CPU) less..

Okay, I renamed the .vmware folder and then everything was reset so I had to re-enter the serial and yada yada.

Anyway, when I tried to boot my Windows XP Pro VM, I got an error message stating that the "Processor may not be powerful enough to run VMware with good performance. Your estimated processing speed is 2 MHz. Refer to yada yada.. for this product's minimum requirements." After I clicked "OK", it started but then it got stuck on the XP boot screen.

Man, ReactOS must really have done a number on VMware.

Maybe running vmware-config.pl will fix something for mentioned kernel modules..

That config.pl thing seems to have done the trick, because it's running as fast as did before now.
