I recompiled the kernel, and broke VESA... help?

Well, I have slackware 9, and I just recompiled the kernel. I went with 2.4.21 (the original was 2.4.20)

Anyway, I included framebuffer support, and I thought that everything would be cool. X still works fine, but text mode is now in VGA, and it looks like crap. What can I do?

You'll need to recompile the kernel.

In the "Console Drivers" section,
make sure to have VGA text console and Video mode selection support.

Then go down to frame buffer support,

check Support for frame buffer devices

and then check vesa vga graphics console
and vga 16 color graphics console

That should be all that's needed.
The radeon driver never worked right with my card, so i just use vesa on it, no biggie.
Good luck:)
