I Need to Know How to make my Media Players Play Media

I try toplay a .wmv, or mpeg* in either noatun or totem and they do not play. In totem I get the error message
~~TOTEM COULD NOT PLAY FILE///home/jason/.evolution/cache/tmp/evolution-tmp-SKwBDe/casual.wmv~~you do not have decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install necessary plugins.

in noauton I get no message whatso ever and nothing in video or audio. It just says Stopped

I was hoping that someone could tellme how I go about finding the necessary plugins and installing them and/or what is up with noatun or where I can find a media player that can handle all formats of media fairly easily.

thanks in advance,
Jason

ps I have just installed fedora 5 last night

You need to install xine-lib and win32-codecs from Packman.

you need the w32codec package along with a plug-in for your browser (mozzplugger for example)A good media player is mplayer -plus you can get a plug-in for it to work in your browser.

I found that noatun or totem in my previous OS (Suse) cannot play it after install all codec. Just try another kind of media player like mplayer.

Plus, linux native play for .rm file (helix) performance is really slow. Just copy all the codec from realplayer folder to /usr/local/win32(if i'm not forget). Next time you can play .rm file with mplayer. Very nice!!
