I Need to Know How to make my Media Players Play Media
I try toplay a .wmv, or mpeg* in either noatun or totem and they do not play. In totem I get the error message
~~TOTEM COULD NOT PLAY FILE///home/jason/.evolution/cache/tmp/evolution-tmp-SKwBDe/casual.wmv~~you do not have decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install necessary plugins.

in noauton I get no message whatso ever and nothing in video or audio. It just says Stopped

I was hoping that someone could tellme how I go about finding the necessary plugins and installing them and/or what is up with noatun or where I can find a media player that can handle all formats of media fairly easily.

thanks in advance,

suse comes crippled in this way (as do a few other distros) I recomend Mplayer it plays anything I throw at it. The best way to install it is from the source (better performance & more features available) but if that scares you there should be some rpms on packman:

In addition, you should install some codecs. I'm running Fedora Core 5 and have not found a video I cannot play. I use mplayer with essential, windows-essential, and realplayer codecs downloaded separately and copied to /usr/local/lib/codecs

Codecs available here:

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
