Maybe if you compress the file? I compressed 9.5 MB as a black hole file (.bh) with ultimate zip in windows and it fitted on the floppy easily.

Though you have to know the program that can do this for linux

And that depends on how the file structure is, and what compression technic is used..

But 9.5 MB, respect.

Well it were a lot of text files. It was my complete website with forum so you can easily gain much compression if empty lines and stuff are left out.

Definitely the file structure

As an absurd example (also illustrating compression algorithms):

$ dd if=/dev/zero bs=1024k count=1024|wc
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
0 0 1073741824

$ dd if=/dev/zero bs=1024k count=1024|gzip|wc
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
1 35 1042069

$ dd if=/dev/zero bs=1024k count=1024|bzip2|wc
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
23 71 785

So the first illustrates that 1024^3 bytes ( 1 GB) is 1073741824 bytes.

gzip (default compression) gets this down down to better than 1/1000 the size.
bzip2 reduces the Gig to 785 bytes

A file with a LOT of white space (or uncompressed images with large contiguous areas) could easily reduce the 9-fold needed in the above example.
