I need help with Blackbox!!!

Hi!!!

I need some help with Blackbox. I've downloaded a program called bbconf, which supposedly would help in configuring keys and themes for use within Blackbox.
I get an error message during the ./configure

"Checking for X... Error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths."

Does anybody know what I'm missing up there? Is there any package I should install that I'm missing?

I'm using Mandrake Linux 9.1 if that's of any help. I really love Blackbox but I need to use keyboard shortcuts or I will go crazy. I also have a deep need to use custom backgrounds. If anyone knows how to create keyboard shortcuts or change the background manually would be also appreciated

Thanks a lot in advance as always :)

why not install BBConf with URPMI? Its available....and much easier.

Living and learning :) I've just figured out and will put here in the case someone pass through the same situation or use the search button.

In the case of

"Checking for X... Error: Can't find X includes. Please check installation and add the correct paths".

That means that I have to install X-Free86-dev which is, in my distro case, included in one of the CD's. Simple go into Mandrake Install Software and search after Xfree86 and install it.
Everything up and running.

Viva Mandrake :)

Hi tcaptain!!!

Thanks for your answer. But if you allow my ignorance, what is URPMI? Is it some sort of RPM? You guys gonna laugh at me... I've never donloaded and installed an rpm from the internet. Everything I've installed was compiling from the source :). What's the sintax to install from rmp?

thanks again

I wont laugh at you...I just recently learned of it myself a couple of months ago.

URPMI is a kind of front end to RPM that behaves a lot like apt-get in Debian...basically it handles a lot of the dependency problems for you

Once its all setup, you can just do URPMI (software name) and it'll download and install the package you want along with any packages it depends on...its pretty neat actually.

Oh boy, that sounds "outstanding" (as they say in the game Mortal Kombat...lol). I will look after that. If that works as you've said my newbie days of installing programs are over :).

Thanks a lot for the useful info my friend!

Just do a search on here for "URPMI" and read some of the threads...that should get you started.
