Gaim supports display pictures for MSN. Well, I know the version I use supports them (1.5.0).

There's a guide here about playing DVDs.

Please don't shout :/.

gaim is easily the best client for multi-protocol chat. who cares about pointless little pictures? it does support some i know, like yahoo.

use mplayer or xine or totem to play dvd's.

STOP USING CAPITAL LETTERS

estiamte expenditure? if you buy from a CDR reseller you'll be told how much they cost before you buy...

in general here you are giving us no useful informatoin about your system.. shortcut keys? where?? what desktop???

If you're only in need of the msn protocol you can try amsn which looks like msn or give mercury a go. Mercury is java based and not Open Source btw.
