i need a solution for install packages in my syatem


Hi
acctually we r phasing a problem while installing packages in RHEL6.
I Created one MOBILES.REPO file in /etc/yum.repos.d.

[mobiles]
name=mbiles.repo
baseurl=file:///samsung/iphone
gpgcheck=1
enabled=1
~
~
~
Then i created one .xml file with use of createrepo.

now
I need ftp package in my system.
thatswhy i use "yum install vsftpd*" command.
but i receaved a error msg " [ERROR 14]
COULD NOT OPEN/READ FILE:///SAMSUNG/IPHONE/REPODATA/REPOMD.XML.
Error:CANNOT RETRIEVE REPOSITORY MEADATA (REPOMD.XML) FOR REPOSITORY MOBILES.PLEASE VERIFY ITS PATH AND TRY AGAIN.

i need a solution for this.

Doesn't RHEL provide their own support when you buy it? Why not contact their support service?

You created the new repo before installing the ftp package, yum will try to retrieve the data from the new repo, which isn't there yet.

Move the new .repo file to somewhere else then install the ftp package with yum. After that you can move the .repo file back.

Also make sure the xml file is in the correct location.
