I Installed XP, and Now I Can't Install Linux!

Hello there. I just upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP. Doing so erased the entire hard drive, including my Linux partition.
When I tried to reinstall Linux (Mandrake 8.0), using the installation utility that resizes your Windows partition, it gives me the error that my partition is too fragmented, and that I should run defrag. I have defragged the hard drive probably 5 times, and it is still giving me that error. And I'm not even using NTFS. I should still be able to install Linux. What's going on?

Thanks in advance,

Well, I guess I'll try Ranish, because XP doesn't have fdisk (don't ya just love Microsoft?)
