I have problems with Java!

Hi!
I have a problem with Java. I try to open this chat web page that uses Java to work. When I open chat windows they are actually Java Applet Windows. They open fine and I can chat perfectly... the problem is that when I want to close them clicking on the X button to close... they dont close! I have to close the main page of chat (the one in the browser) to close all applet windows. I dont have that problem in Windows, and I have this problem in all the versions of Linux I have used... (Ubuntu, SUSE, and Vector)

If you want to test the problem yourself the web page is www.elchat.com it's in Spanish (im Latin!!) but only first you just have to click on the big yellow happy face, then wait for an small applet to charge, click it and the windows will open.
The first window to appear you can go to Lugares -> Salir (it means Places -> Exit) and the window closes... but the real problem is this one...
when that first window appears (those are the chat rooms) you choose one and click on the Button "Entrar en la Sala" (meaning Enter Chat Room) and another window will appear... that's the chat room. There you can click on Sala -> Cerrar (meaning Room -> Close) in th upper part of the window and it closes... the real problem is when you click on any person participating in the chat room (in the left part of the window). When you click somebody a private conversation window appears, but no options appear in the upper part of the window like in the others... so when I click on the X button to close it, it doesn't close. And Alt + F4 doesn't work on those windows.
Can it be a problem with Java configuration? or what do you say? Huh?
I think its a Java configuration problem... can somebody help me out? Thanks so much!

What version of Java are you using in Linux and what version are you using in Windows?

Same problem here with Ubuntu 7.10 and Sun Java 6 ("1.6.0_03"). Well, I guess there is not much you can do.

You could ask the guy responsible for the chat to add a "salir/cerrar" option on the chat. This is a 2m job at most. Suggest that to them. If they are kind, they might add that feature in a new/updated release.

If the problem is specific to the Java version then you could use a different version until they do update the web software. You don't even have to uninstall the version you have. Try 1.5 or even 1.4.
