Angry I have no name!


Any help with this will be much appreciated.
When I login to a linux box of mine as any user other than root my prompt looks like this.

servername! I have no name!:~$
also, I am not allowed to do anything! I can't even browse the directory tree.

Please help!!

have you logged in as root to see if your accounts still exist? or as root, try to create a new account and try to use that one to log in.

put you dist cd in the drive and boot from than try writing rescure to the prombt and if it takes you to a rescue mode try adding user from there or resetting passwords
