hi,
i have never done this so consider this just getting you close
(i have a copy of fedora1 i never use but i am using it's grub)
fedora2 might be diffeent but i bet not
boot from the first fedora cd
and get into rescue mode
possibly at the boot prompt type:
Linux rescue
possibly here it will tell you your fedora installation is mounted at position X
then you should be able to mount you linux installation with
chroot /mnt/sysimage
then:
grub-install --root-directory=/dev/hdaX (X is depending on where is your / partition)
if you have a /boot patrition then
grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/hdaX

then will possibly have to add wintows to the grub list by hand later

i have also seen on the fedora list where people say if you just type:
grub
instead of grub-install
you might get some kind of configuration helper thing

good luck

By reinstalling Windows XP you've installed the windows bootloader over top of GRUB on the MBR. You need to do as foo_bar_foo suggested and boot from a recovery/rescue disk of some sort (I've found both Toms Root Boot http://www.toms.net/rb/, the Linux Bootable Business Card http://www.lnx-bbc.org/ and Knoppix http://www.knoppix.org/ to be good for this...) and re-install GRUB in the MBR.

When building a multi-boot system, you should always install Windows first, as it is the least friendly to other OSes.

Good advice so far. Anytime you install windoze, it will erase the MBR. You can in the future make a boot floppy to help restore the MBR. Remember, Billy boy hates Linux. He has it programmed to take out Linux every chance it gets.

Basically, Linux is still there, just put the bootloader back and you are back in business.

Later
