I have a file over 10. megs and I want to xfer it to my WinXP partition. How would I xfer this over?? I would simply burn it to a CD but my burner crapped out on me. Any suggestions. I do have Cable Modem so sending it over the net should not be too much of a problem. Please help!

If your XP partition is formatted as fat you can mount it linux as fat32 (see man mount). If it is ntfs mounting is probably not a good idea.

How about a usb key? Maybe you can borrow one from a friend. You could also consider buying one, they come fairly cheap these days.

it is ntfs....but that usb drive key is a great idea. Would it need to be in any format or would i be able to just write to it from red hat and then boot into xp and extract from it without complication??

The USB key will most likely be formatted using Fat32. This will be mounted as type 'vfat'. If you linux system has the hot-plug service setup and running, you won't need to do anything, a directory will pop up on the desktop allowing you to use it right away.

OR, if you use the ext2 filesystem (ext3 is ok too) you could use explore2fs.
