I cant change my password with the passwd command
Hi For some reason passwd does not accept my current password as the old password when i try to change my password with the command passwd. Im not sure whats wrong with whatever linux uses to handle passwords but I cant even change passwords with the root user account. Is there any way to fix both of these problems.

Could you please specify which distribution/version you are using ? Sounds like a problem with the password's pam configuration.
Could you post the content of your /etc/pam.d folder ? |
inhibiter@relik:~>ls /etc/pam.d
atd common-password login ppp smtp vsftpd chage common-session netatalk quagga squid xdm chfn crond other radiusd sshd xdm-np chsh cups passwd rpasswd su xlock common-account gnomesu-pam pop samba sudo xscreensaver common-auth imap pop3 shadow useradd I'm using linux OPENsuse 10.1. |
I'm no PAM guru, sorry. Maybe this helps: http://linux.die.net/man/1/passwd. HTH.
P.S.: Would have been nice if jcelle would have come back... |
