I cannot use Bittorrent to download files within FC5.

I just downloaded and installed the newly released Fedora Core 5. I find that I cannot use bittorrent to download files. So what's the problems? Is it related to the SElinux? Thanks!

Check that ports between 6681-6689 are not being blocked.

Helpful site

Try this site, make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Come back and post if it works.

http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...ion_notes.html

If you're feeling the need to use Azureus, the instructions are there also.

Good Luck.

dealerman, thanks for your reply.

In fact, I can download files linked by a torrent file with an English name (e.g., the FC5 iso files at http://torrent.fedoraproject.org).

But when the torrent file is in Chinese character (the extension name is still 'torrent' of course), I cannot download the files provided by it!

After clicking on the link to the torrent file within the firefox, there is a warning message after opening the bittorrent-gui. Infact, I can download the files with older versions of BT and FC (e.g., BT-4.0 and FC3). But the download can not be performed within FC5 and BT-4.4. The BT still doesn't work even after I configured my system following the instructions in the link specified by you (or open the ports between 6881:6999, as mentioned by Alien). I do not know what's wrong.

Each time I open a torrent file with a Chinese name with bittorrent-gui, there is a warning message like:

'This .torrent file has been created with a broken tool and has incorrectly encoded filenames. Some or all of the filenames may appear different from what the creator of the .torrent file intended."

I check the log and find:

'Problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error (111, 'Connection refused')>'.

So what's the problem?

Try to rename (not translate, just rename) Chinese symbols in torrent files into English letters.
