I cannot play music using gnome CD player
I cannot play music using gnome CD player.
I then go to test my sound card and everything seems fine,
because I hear the sound. But when i play a CD, it is runnig but I cannot
hear anything in my speakers.
Do I need to have some drivers ? Please give me an advise.
Thank you very much

I have the same problem too, I can't hear cd sounds in gnome 2.2.1
Sound works in xmms and nautilus preview, i can play mp3 with xmms, but when i try to play a cd with gnome cd player or xmms, i can't hear any sound. Of course, the cd reproduction works under windows... so it's not a connection problem.

Might want to make sure that you have the audio output cable from the cdrom connected to your sound card. Windows can use the ide cable to transfer audio from the cdrom, but linux needs the little audio cable to play cdrom audio. Kind of a low-tech solution, but it might explain why you can play mp3s and not cdrom tracks.

jacks
Also check your sound card output jacks (in addition to Capt Caveman's suggestion of correct internal analog connections). Xine, xmms, etc, will work on output jacks that cd-player will not, however xine and xmms will work on the same jack(s) as cd-player
