I can play CD only with XMMS...., any other players?
What a freak computer, dell dimersion 2350, no audio cable comes with
sumsung CDrom. .....so, up to now I can only play CD using XMMS.
All other famous players such as KsCD, workman don't work.
Any other cd players can work in the same way as XMMS? Thanx.

xmms themes
It has been established that XMMS works, right? OK. And I am going to assume that the reason you want to change programs is because you don't like the default theme. Why don't you just go with what you know works (XMMS) and change the theme to something you like. Here are a few examples of nice XMMS themes:

http://themes.freshmeat.net/screenshots/36990/ - This is the Keramik XMMS theme. Keramik is the default theme of SuSE and looks good.

This should give you a start.
btw- I just got SuSE 8.2 Pro and love it! Great Distro

XMMS uses Winamp2 skins, so you can use them too. But thats not his question.
Go into XMMS's preferences, and see what sound driver the CD player plugin is using. Then try changing the sound driver to that, in the other program you want to use. That often works.

My problem is no sound from players except for XMMS.
Thank enigmasoldier for the suggestion on themes.
My question is as contrasutra pointed out, but unfortunately, I could not find the way to change sound driver in KsCD. I once saw a post in one forum which said no way to change the defaut input in KsCD. I am not sure about other players.
On the other hand, in XMMS I can only use the AudioCD reader in "Input plugins" in preferences. "CD Audio Player" doesn't work.
It seems that most cd players won't work without audio cables between CDrom and sound card. But XMMS can read input from another way(digital cable? not sure.).
Thanks.

Well, dorkowitz, it's a dell computer. I once opened the case and found all sound, network cards are packed in a green box. I am afraid I can't open it. Don't tell me to replace the computer.
Anyway, I have to get used to XMMS now, I guess.
