I can't watch streaming video

Hi all. I want to watch daily news videos on msnbc.com, and of course, they're telling me I need Internet Explorer 6 and Media Player. I use Firefox 0.9.3 for my web browser. Isn't there a plugin or something I can do to make this work? Thank you.

maybe the mplayer-plugin will work, look for it at www.google.com/linux
also Plugger is a nice plugin frontend.
by the way, why msnbc.com?

I've always used msnbc.com as my homepage. The news and sports coverage is really good. I have mplayer installed, but how do I make it automatically open when I click on a streaming video link? I'm not sure what type of file the videos are. Thanks
