I can't purge windows from UEFI!

Hi all, i'm having problems deleting windows boot manager, i'm on Kubuntu right now, i deleted windows partitions, then did $ sudo update-grub and it finds "Windows Boot Manager on /dev/sda1@/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi". How to perma remove it?

Partitioning?

I think it must be deleted from the EFI partition.

You can also delete it from grub.cfg.

If /dev/sda1 is not mounted:
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
Then (again, use sudo if need be)
mv /mnt/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi /mnt/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi.orig
update-grub

In case you change you mind, rename the file as it was originally.

Even simpler, if you have just one system, uncomment this line in /etc/defaul/grub:
#GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true
To do that, just remove the leading #
Then again:
update-grub

It is actually pretty easy to remove/delete from the efi partition but I think the suggestion above of renaming/moving the file is better.

Be sure to monitor it from command line. Command would be sudo efiboomgr. Some bios's seem to grow loader information till they can't and brick.
