I'd like to use old kernel but virtualbox doesn't work

there is a bug in the new kernel and I have to use the old one for now until they get it fixed.

but when I use virtualbox it only works with the new kernel.

I'm trying to load the kernel modules manually but I'm not experienced and it doesn't seem to work.

I'm working on fedora 20

old kernel: 3.11.10-301.fc20.x86_64
new kernel: 3.17.3-200.fc20.x86_64

the error I get when I attempt to start a VM:
Code:
RTR3InitEx failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)

The VirtualBox kernel modules do not match this version of VirtualBox. The installation of VirtualBox was apparently not successful. Executing

'systemctl restart systemd-modules-load.service ' as root

may correct this. Make sure that you do not mix the RPM Fusion version and the Oracle version of VirtualBox.
Code:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 7.
The virtual machine 'Windows 7' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).
Code:
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:
Machine
Interface:

I haven't run fedora in a while, but since no one else had responded I'll give you my suggestions. The error message indicates that you have a mismatch with your virtualbox kernel modules and your older kernel. This probably occurred when you installed your new kernel. In most distros, that will automatically cause the vbox kernel modules to be rebuilt against the new kernel source code rendering them incompatible with older kernel versions. The most reasonable approach to try would be to rebuild the vbox kernel modules against the older kernel you are now using. I believe that for fedora you can accomplish that by running the following as root:

# service vboxdrv setup

I'm using the suggestions I found here:

http://www.if-not-true-then-false.co...-red-hat-rhel/

If the above command runs successfully, you should reboot to be sure the rebuilt vbox kernel modules load and then try to run virtualbox.
