Huge spaces in all variable width fonts

Hi there,

after installing Skype and the necessary Qt 3.3 library, all my variable width fonts have huge spaces between the letters, which gets quite annoying after a while. I run Mandrake 9.2. The installed Skype version was 0.91.0.12, along with libqt3-3.2.3-17.

I found the bug in the Redhat Buglist (Bugnumber 133578 - why can't I post an URL?), but the information from there did not help me as I am not much into patching and compiling stuff. I tried downgrading, but the Mandrake RpmDrake produces errors and the command line rpm does not seem to have a downgrade switch.

What now? Any help appreciated.
Dare
