httpd error codes and custom error messages


file:///usr/manual/custom-error.html.en is not exactly in english. can someone explain to me how to get this going. the example doesnt point to specific files and is USELESS to people that did not build apache or have not run it for 20 years!! i seen something briefly about .htaccess....

You should check out the ErrorDocument directive in the Apache manual and replace the original error pages with your custom ones. The default configuration uses some content negotiation magic which is more pain than it's worth.
