HTML Mailshots

I want to do a small mailshot.

I have the contact data currently sitting in a Postgresql database - so it's easily extractable.

I use Evolution as my main mail client, although I have also got sendmail configured so I can use mutt/mail.

What I want to do is to 'batch' mail a group of the contacts, but using an HTML formatted message. I tried simply creating an html text message via Evolution/Libreoffice and using that as a template for mutt. Mutt sends the message ok, but it appears 'unformatted' when received back in Evolution. Presumably this is because mutt/mailx only handle text?

Is there a simple utility that will allow me to send an html formatted message out? I know I can use Evo itself and put all the contacts in one mail, but I would like to mail the people individually and would like to tailor the messages to suit, so would like something I could call via a script or a program (a bit like mutt/mailx!).

Read about the format of mails containing HTML
http://www.codestone.ltd.uk/software...n1010-11-2.pdf

It should always be a multipart mime type...

[SOLVED] HTML Mailshots

Thanks Uhelp, but I was after 'how' to send the HTML rather than how the message should be formatted.

Typically, I searched yesterday and couldn't find anything - and then found this within an hour this morning:

mutt -e "set content_type=text/html"

the -e from the mutt man page:
-e command
Specify a configuration command to be run after processing of initialization files.

This appears to solve it with my first test message. Hopefully, I can now lay out my message with Libreoffice or similar and just run a script to control the mailing.
