I am looking for a gpl alternative to dreamweaver, any suggestion? Something similar that as a short learning curve,

Currently their are no "What You See Is What You Get" gpl html editors. I remember reading that quanta had one in development a while back. You can always run dreamweaver using the CrossOver office plugin.

You might want to check out Coffee Cup HTML editor. It's not open source, but it is available for linux. It may be close enough to suit your needs.

You can do BASIC WYSIWYG stuff with Open Office Writer and netscape composer.

Programs which are not WYSIWG, but are worth checking out are Quanta and Screem.
