HTML Content Filter

I have looked around in the forum and it seems that DansGuardian is the most talked about content filter. Squid is great at caching and Squid Guard seems to do a little more proxying (blacklist/whitelist) stuff but it has not been actively maintained since 2001.

I am currently using the Sun Web Proxy Server which is now free but not open source. I believe its the old Netscape / iPlanet proxy server and has alot of powerful capabilities. Yet it is weak in a few key areas. First they promote black listing instead of white listing. So if you want to allow a MIME TYPE of text/html only then you have to deny ALL other mime types (pain in the tuckus!) Also its html tag filtering does not seem to work properly.

So what I am looking for is (preferably) an open source product that has some of this capability. Even one that is pluginbased so that I can write my own filtering plugins.

If DansGuardian is the best then so be it. I would just like to hear about any others out there.

it has a free edition which misses some features, but maybe you should give it a try...
