hsfmodem for Acer laptops

Guys,

I've finally resolved the battery power meter for the Acer laptops. All you have to do is to download the kernel source and do a "make oldconfig" and "make".

Include "ec_burst=1" in menu.lst on your kernel options.

Now, I have a problem..I downloaded hsfmodem from linuxant.com since I always get "NO DIALTONE" when connecting. I have installed it and it worked fine. However, I only have a maximum of 14.4 kbps. That's kinda rude. They want me to pay for it so I can use the maximum speed. Are there alternative drivers which is FREE to make my modem work on its maximum 56 kbps?

Dude,

Aren't there any alternatives than paying? I mean, we guys install linux in our machines. If the OpenOffice are distibuted for free why can't they do the same. Besides, its just a simple driver.

Then write your own driver. I don't run linux b/c it's free as in beer and I would think a lot of people are the same. I mean come on, whats 20 dollars. Otherwise start sprucing up on your reverse engineering and write your own driver then sell it for 10!!! otherwise, just try googling around and see if anyone found anything.
