HP Omnibook XE

I am unable to installk SuSE 7.3 on my new HP Omnibook. It seems to install but on reboot it hangs (with the display showing only a square root sign!) - I've got a feeling that Win XP HE is the problem. I need to keep this on the notebook (work bought it for me... they want Windows!!)- but I want SuSE aswell (I run this on my desktop box at home) -

Is my problem HP?
Or is it W XP HE?

Help!
