Well. It worked.. It went farely quick too, worked on the first try. Worked on my DVD Player too, thank god. Maybe my freak experiance with DVD Shrink on Windows was a fluke? Im doing another as we speak, I hope it comes out good too..
Well, we can chalk that up to one success, and one DVDR turned into a Coaster. Same problem I had on my Windows HD, everything went fine, mounted the iSO and everything was there, looked normally fine, but when I burned the Disc, it wouldn't play. Guess I'll continue switching back and forth between Hard Drives as need be to back up my Movies. Thanks anyways guys.
Actually, no, this is going to drive me ***** insane until I figure out why it works with one pass, then it doesn't work with another? What am I doing wrong?

try the disks on a different dvd player. maybe the blanks are poor quality or your burner is having trouble with them? burn at a lower speed? i bet you're doing it right, but something is wrong with the software or hardware.
Whansard, I don't have any problems using Roxio Media Creator 7 & DVD Decryptor on Windows. Few days ago someone suggested DVD Shrink, so I tried it. iSO worked fine when mounted on a virtual drive, so I burned it. It wouldn't play on my DVD Player, and froze my Computer up until I ejected it. Im using the same DVDR Media I've always used also. When I read this article I figured I would give it a try.And hey, it worked I was -SO- happy. So, I put another disc in to copy, went through the process like before, burned flawlessly and quick. Went to watch it, make sure it worked, but the DVD player says: 'No Disc' Same as when I had this problem on Windows.
iin m$ dont burn as an iso IF you want a home dvd player to read the disc they dont understand the format....use dvd shrink to rip and transcode and nero to burn I have NEVER made a coaster....
Well, after 5 DVD attempts, I've burned 2 coasters. They work fine on my PC which leads me to believe it's DVD Shrink having issues with Region settings. *Cries* One of the coasters I burned, I went back and 'tried again' and played with the region settings, which created a perfect ISO that next try. Well, 2 DVD's later, now I've burned another Coaster. *Cries some more.*
If you use DVD Shrink under wine then you need to rip the DVD first. As far as I know you can't use ASPI in wine. I use dvdbackup to copy whole DVD on my HDD and then let DVD SHrink do it's magic on them.
ps. You can only use DVD Shrink 3.0 and not 3.1 because 3.1 version doesn't show any folders to choose when running it in wine.
Well, when I do it I just do: wine .wine/fake_windows/Program\ Files/DVD\ Shrink/DVD\ Shrink ../../VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO But I've burned 2 coasters, out of 5 attempts. :/ Seems even though you use 'Region Free' it doesn't exactly work out right cause they play fine on my PC.

i am only able to "shrink" the dvd and reauthor correctly, (sometimes i put 2 short movies on one dvd), when i rip to disk first. dvdshrink will only "copy" a dvd that i take off enough features that puts it under a dvd-r's size, but will not shrink anything unless i rip to disk first.

I think your problem here may lie in the fact that your dvd player may not like to play "region-free" dvds. Try burning the disc for the region that your dvd player is designed for.
i ghave dvd shrink installed under wine but wheni go to open disc i get nothing in the drp down box and if i i go to open files i also cant select any folders.
here is my wine config for the dvd drive:
