HOWto extract embedded pictures from evolution email?
I am running Mandriva Linux 2008 and using Evolution as my email client.
People are always sending me EMBEDDED pictures in my email that I would like to be able to extract and save. Sometimes I can use a screen capture to get them, but more often than not, by the time the email window's banners are added to the screen, part of the picture displayed is always out of sight. How can I extract these pictures so that I can save them independent of the email letter? Thanks for your thoughts! |
I don't know how Evolution email works, but every other mail program that I've used, I just right click on the image and select Save as... from the pop-up menu.

I have a "Save As" also. But when I use it to try to save the embedded picture, it gives me a browser which I can use to decide where I want it saved, but there is no name or file extension type given in the title field. So, if I name it "test" and add".jpg" and hit save, when I go to its location in konqueror and click on it, nothing is displayed but a gray colored page. If I use gqview to look at it, it shows test.jpg as a paper page with a red X on it and ripped in half in the middle.
What has happened to the picture when it is embedded? Do I need to do something to it to make it viewable after I have saved it? |

Try (in a terminal) file /path/to/test.jpg |
