Howto do things in GNU/Linux - help for newbies
I have written a Howto (http://geocities.com/lunatech3007/do...ngs-howto.html) which aims to help users to get acquainted with the tools available and have them up and running on their own. Most GNU/Linux distributions come with a ton of applications, development tools, and support for all sorts of fancy devices. But none of this is very obvious when you boot into KDE or GNOME for the first time. The topics covered in the howto are
1. Some Dos and Donts 2. Getting Started 3. Understanding Linux Directories and Files 4. Files Managers 5. Managing Files 6. Connecting to the Internet 7. Chatting / Instant Messaging with Linux 8. Finding Help in GNU/Linux 9. Installing and Managing Software with RPM 10. Printing 11. Playing and Recording Music 12. Linux in the Office 13. Gaming With Linux 14. Creating Archives and Zipped Files 15. The Post-Install Tune-up 16. Recovering from Crashed Programs You can find the Howto here http://geocities.com/lunatech3007/do...ngs-howto.html |
That is awesome! I flipped through a few levels. I bookmarked it and can see that I will be sending a lot of people there! :D
