Howto connect USB floppy drive - Slack/Gnome

I've been having a lot of problems with trying to write to my floppy drive from ANY desktop. It works fine at the Linux commandline. See my other posts for the gory details. I always get an 'invalid parameters' errormessage...

I have an external USB floppy drive that I thought might provide me with a workaround. Can some kind person give me the skinny on how to connect a USB floppy? I'm using Slackware 9.1/Gnome 2.4.

Thanks!

Plugged it in. Waited. Tried to mount it from a Gnome terminal window with:
mount /dev/sda

Got errormessage:
Can't find /dev/sda in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

Reasonable enough, but could you tell me the syntax for the line(s) I need to add to fstab/mtab? And where in the file should the new line be placed?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but I can't seem to find any man pages on USB, and I'm new at this...

you need to tell linux where to mouint the floppy

e.g. as root:

# mkdir /myfloppy
# mount /dev/sda /myfloppy
