howto burn multiple svcd/vcd's on one dvdr and play them via mplayer?

Hi there.

I'm new to this forum, i just used it to solve problems in the past, which didn't worked out with my newest idea. i searched a couple of times but didnt find anything useful.

i got a lot of svcd's in bin/cue-format and recently got myself an dvdr. everything works fine, except that i have to burn those svcd's on cdr. i'd like to burn them as mpeg2 (or mpeg1) on a dvd without re-encoding of anykind. any idea? the only player i use is mplayer.

the only way i for myself can think of is to use the m$-feature of dont-understand-vcd. i could use the avseq.dat file. but i dont have a windows partition and if possible, i dont want to have one.

thanks a lot.

how do you expect to burn a vcd as mpeg2 without reencoding? by definition you say you want to change it to mpeg2..... if they are valid cue/bins then just use cdrdao to burn them, nothing else to it.... and i'm not sure what this has to do with mplayer, once burnt you have a vcd to do whatever you want with

i dont know how to explain it in english. obvious i'm pretty bad at it

i just want a couple (about 5) svcds on one dvd. i cant imagine how this is possible except to burn mpeg files. i dont want to waste time in reencoding when vcd/svcds are already mpeg1/mpeg2.
with mplayer i meant that i dont have to care if the dvd is playable in a dvd-player or something like that.

thanks.

oh right that makes more sense i think... so basically you just want a data dvd containing playable files. ok well there are a number of things you can do really... you could just burn the bin files and mplayer could then run that as a vcd (mplayer vcd://1 -cdrom-device /mnt/dvd/vcd1.cue) or you can suck out the mpg file easily enough with mencoder. it's not recoding, just repackaging:

mencoder vcd://1 -cdrom-device blah.cue -ovc copy -oac copy -of mpeg -o film.mpg
OR
mplayer vcd://1 -cdrom-device blah.cue -dumpstream -dumpfile film.mpg MIGHT work....

i'm not totallly sure on the exact syntax for playing vcd's... i think that's right though. and of course once you have a nice playable film file, burn it to disc
