Unhappy How tp Configuring a Dial-In Shell Server

This is my tech-book:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/debia...k/ch12_05.html

I have a win-modem(smartlink 2800),I can drive it under Linux2.6 using sl-modem.
And also I can dial out my ISP to use Internet.

Now I want to build a dial-in server, thus, I can dial my office number to connect this LinuXbox when I want to stay at home.
But, when I call the linux-box, nothing happen, even there is NO log from mgetty.

It's VERY important to me! I hope some nice people can help me.
Thank thee VERY VERY VERY much!!!
