how to view IE only web page on firefox

Hi
I am using ubuntu with firefox to view the webpage.
However, I face problem with some webpages only designed for MS IE user.
As linux base, I cannot use a firefox extension "IE tab" to solve this problem.
Any good method to solve the problem? Thanks

Did you try changing your User Agent String? You can install this extension to change your user id: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59

Otherwise, there's a number of ways to install Internet Explorer under wine - the easiest of which I found to be ies4linux: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page

This is the code that your browser uses to tell the web server what SW you are using.

I very rarely see sites anymore that will not work with Firefox. When I do, I contact them. In at least 1/2 the cases, they have fixed it.

This is a example website
http://www.immigration.gov.tw/aspcode/index_ch_main.asp

Please notice the left side bar.

If I use IE to view it, the bar tree will extend when I click it.
However, if I view it with FireFox, no response when I click it.

I'll agree only that it seems to be a very poorly done site. I could not find any obvious malfunction, but some of the page loading is so slow that I have no motivation to play with it.

Did you try changing the user agent string?

Changed the user agent string to IE7 but no improvement.

This is another example webpage

http://www.adobe.com/

Please notice the top bar

The bar will extend when mouse is over the button such as "Solution" but the advertisement cover the extended bar.

I am using FireFox 3.0b5

If you use flashblock you can see the menus. I don't know any way around it other than that. unfortunately the web is still very IE-centric.

It seems to work just fine in konqueror, the Chinese characters don't display on it for me but they might for you.
