how to view .chm files in linux
 
hi

is there any software to view .chm files. i tried xchm and gnochm but they didnt install. the error i got was failed dependencies libchm.so.0 and libchm. then i installed libchm.so.0 but i could not find libchm.

so i could not install the above mentioned software. also kchmview is out of question because i dont use KDE.

please help me out.

Here is a howto on setting up GnoCHM reader on FC4, should apply to FC3 as well.

I'm able to use kchmviewer in GNOME as well. Using Mandriva LE 2005.

kchmviewer is really nice, too bad not in debian repo.

i solved the problem. thanks to ur suggestion. i installed gnochm.

I use kchmviewer it beautiful but when I want open file .chm I use terminal"kchmviewer myfile". Please help me how to configure opening file .chm when i click as Windows

Hello and welcome to LQ. Unlike other fora here we have some simple rules. For instance please post your own questions in your own thread. That way it gets the attention it deserves. Next to that please fill in your OS details and such so your fellow LQ members know how to answer your questions qualitatively better (or so I hope ;-p) By reading the above posts you now know you need to (use your package manager to) install GnoCHM or Kchmviewer. If you do not know how to use your distributions package manager please read the accompanying book(let) or online docs. Once you have GnoCHM or Kchmviewer installed they should have added themselves as as default application to open .chm files with. If that's not the case you'll have to set the association in your filemanager.
