how to use wine in fedora 10
 
hello All,
I have install wine via YUM, in my system (having fedora 10). I heard that using wine I can access some features of windows like photoshop cs3 , winrar files etc etc.
But I don't know the procedure of how to use this wine s/w.
for example if I want to install winrar (which is already installed in windows -XP)...How can I install it? Or if I got to use windows installation then how to use it?

Does anybody have time to enlighten me not whole but a little bit with wine!!!
I 'd be very much happy if you do.

Once you have wine installed, you should be able to single or double click on any winblows .exe file. The familiar installation interface should start up. Go through the install as you would in winblows.

Any installed winblows apps should appear in your Main Menu--> wine menu (your wine menu might be under Emulators).

there is no wine menu in the list
I am giving you the list which are under wine:
notepad
regedit
wineboot*
wine configuration
wine file
wine software uninstaller
wine help

i tried to install in that way what you told me to click any exe file & make install but it did not start.
Any help plz..

Most recent versions of Wine come with that single/double clicking feature wherein you just have to click on the executable (.exe) to get it working, just like in Windows.

However, if that doesn't work in your case, open up Terminal/Konsole (command-line), "cd" to the folder where your exe is placed, and issue the command:

thank you now it seems to be working but not as it is running in windows. I have installed winrar in fedora. firstly it was installed in c:program files, but in windows application it has already installed in that drive so change it to z:program files.

can elaborate plz which application 'd be preferable to install via wine?
What i heard that not every application is suitable to install in fedora through wine.

help plz

You'll find a list on the wine website.

You do know that there are versions of rar/unrar for linux? There are also applications to handle par2 files.
