How to use Visual Studio (Linux incarnation)?

Hi there,

Honestly I've never thought I would post a question like this. My environment is Ubuntu 16.04. After a few rough weeks it now works fine. I downloaded and installed Visual Studio for debian OS, opened a C++ program in it, fine. I cannot figure out how to compile the code. There are no buttons to compile anything.

That code which I found on the web gave me over 200 compile errors when I opened it and compiled in Microsoft Visual Studio in Windows 10. Somebody told me that Linux VS handles the same code easily. I want to see that.

Thanks, - A.

probably I missed something, but visual studio code is just an editor http://code.visualstudio.com/, MS Visual Studio does not exist on linux.

It looks like you are correct. It is very bizarre. A friend of mine, a professional programmer who works with all kinds of OS's said he compiled the code there. So, in order to compile I need to use g++ compiler, right?

why

even on a microsoft OS i dumped VisualStudio for Mingw gcc and autotools and bloodshed DevC++

now if you NEED to use C# and dot net ?????
well then run microsoft

if you need an IDE there is the QT QT Creator

or use Eclipse or Anjuta

g++ is one of them, probably the most common one. But you can use what you wish.
