Post How to use messanger


Hello all

I want to know is there any software to to use yahoo messanger in fedora core 9 ?

pidgin or kopete both support Yahoo!. From what I understand, kopete has better support for file transfers, if you need that. Both programs should be available in your package manager. There are other clients, but these should get you started.

i prefer pidgin though both are good and as already said kopote is better for file sharing.

They supposedly fixed the file sharing issue in newer versions of pidgin, so it should work there too. I use kopete.

Note that you may need to open TCP port 5050 to be able to send files. I run:

iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 5050 -j ACCEPT
