How to use a pendrive without typing "sync" all the time?

When I copy files to a USB drive, I have to type "sync", whereupon it completes the writes, I would like to turn this behaviour off, so that when the GUI shows all the files are there on the drive, they've actually BEEN copied, and I can unplug the drive.

How do I do this?

Thanks.

Create an fstab entry for the device (by UUID), and add "sync" to the options.

It should sync when you unmount it.

I don't *want* to unmount it, I want to just pull it out as and when I feel like.

Depending on your distro and/or GUI, and just like other OS, you have the option for ejecting the drive in a safe way.

If you want to ignore this and the above advice, it's up to you if you want to take the risk to corrupt the data on the drive.
