Dear sir, Actually, At present I have lot of file which are working in fedora 14. And also, I need some tools like grads, Pinoply like that. If I upgrade my fedora, I loose this and I tried it with heir version in other system. So these tools are not working properly. Since as I was in the ending of my research work, I kept fedora 14 as usual. If I upgrade firefox, I may not get any problem. So, I would like to upgrade firefox. Kindly help me to upgrade firefox in fedora 14.

The easiest way would be to download the latest version of firefox to your home directory and just run it from there, not even altering your system firefox in any way.

that or just point your current FF to the new one you just downloaded and that existing icons will point to the newer vs. both work.

also have you tried chrome?

Dear andrewthomas, Thank you for your kind help. I downloaded the firefox latest version. I untared the fire and hence I had some files. I tried to run ./firefox. then i got the following error.
bash: ./firefox: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
I tried to get ld-linux.so.2 library. I didn't get the library.
Could you please tell me whether the procedure is write? or I am following wrong?

Looks like you have a 64bits OS. And downloaded a 32bits firefox.

Fortunately Fedora can supply the 32bits files :
# yum install glibc.i686

.. I guess you will need some "libX<??>.i686" libraries too.
.. They can also be installed with 'yum'.

.

I tried this and I got the error as follows.
[root@sksagar firefox]# yum install glibc.i686
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Adding en_US to language list
http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/linux...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 6 - ""
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: adobe-linux-i386. Please verify its path and try again
[root@sksagar firefox]#
kindly help how to resolve this?

# 8 .

First thing to do : Disable / delete the old "adobe repo".
Not usable any more.

you can also just grab the 64 bit firefox
and use that on the 64 bit Fedora

but

Fedora 14 is a bit old and unsupported , i have no idea if firefox 24 will run
on a system that had firefox 3

choose your language
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/re.../linux-x86_64/
USA-EN is
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/re...-x86_64/en-US/

but firefox 24 might not run on a os that is 2 years out of date
Fedora 14 hit it's End Of Life back in December 2011

or at least a stable one like 17 or 18?

Its just that it may be simpler to update fedora than firefox.

Aniway, if you still wish to do it as you ask, have you tried yum update firefox?

fedora 17 is unsupported
fedora 18 will be unsupported in about 90 days

there is no such thing as a "stable" fedora
