How to unlock a file...it has a lock symbol on it


So have a file with a lock symbol on it...How do i get rid of it

Gnome 2 ?

Then it's quite normal.
To be ignored, if you can access the file without any issues.

no i need to install it still and i cant because of the lock

Which file is it about ? A file name, please.

Also : The file command can be used to decide the file type :
'file <unknown-file>'

sudo chown alex321:alex321 <directory-name>/

... or whatever your user name is.

how can i run it now ?? chmod +x and then sudo ??
