How to unistall program installed from source

Hi',

My question is:
When I install program from source how can I unistall it. I Assume that if no other parameter was specified during compiling the default installation folder is /usr/local.
My problem stem gd 2 installation. Because no rpm is available then it has to be installed from source

I'm not very familar with linux.

go into the source directory and run

make uninstall

Doesnt work for all program though, if it doesnt work, you have to track down all the files and delete manually.

If you run the ./configure script with the option --prefix=/path/to/install
all the files will be inside this folder. If your want to uninstall just delete the folder.
