How to Uninstall Nvidia Driver and Install old one
hi, i bought a new amd computer with Msi Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT, and i have a problem with some video colors,(pple faces are blue for example) especially with realplayer´s RMVB. When i Install a SO , Ubuntu 8.04 (kde or gnome), Mandriva 2008.1 (kde or gnome) they work perfectly, but when I enable the graphical acceleration to run Compiz, it just turn the video colors. I tried Mandriva 2008.0 and with the acceleration, all worked perfectly for the vids.
I want to Uninstall those drivers that the SO bring with the installation, and get and old one like in version 2008.0 of mandriva... How can i uninstall the new driver that bring the SO like Ubuntu or mandriva and install an old one? Thanks |
Download the desired Linux driver from nvidia.com. Make sure you have the gcc and kernel-header packages for your current kernel installed in Ubuntu.
Run 'sudo sh NVIDIA-what-you-just-downloaded.run' in a command shell. The old driver will be overwritten. There are other ways especially for Ubuntu, but this one works as well. jlinkels |
