How did you install it? From source or by using YuM?
If you've used yum it should be no more then:

yum remove "package name" (without the quotes).

Or if you downloaded the .rpm file and installed it using:

rpm -i "package name"

then uninstall it by doing:

rpm -u "package name" (here to counts, forget the quotes).

I have got my problem solved ...
The method that i have followed is given in the end for newbies..

I didnt install it using yum ..
i directly compiled the source code..

Anyways I came to know that I can install asterisk using yum also...
Can U tell me what repositories to be added ??
I have added livna repos along with the default ones....

-----------------------

UNINSTALLING ASTERISK

change the directory to the extracted files of the souce file that is asterisk-1.4.tar.gz

then type the commands
./configure
make uninstall

make uninstall ------> will remove asterisk

make uninstall-all

make uninstall-all ------> will remove all the config files along with some folders in /var ...

--------------------
