How to Transfer Squid Configurations
Hello,
I posted this question at another site but never received an answer. I'm really hoping that someone can answer my question here. How do you go about transferring Squid server file configurations to another computer so that the other computer will have the same settings? My brother is using Fedora and attempting to transfer his Squid server file configs to another computer but doesn't know how he would go about doing it. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
Hi,
Welcome to LQ! Well, if the other machine uses the same Distribution with the same version of Squid and will be occupying an identical spot in the network it should be as trivial as to copy squid.conf from one box to the other. If any of the parameters above differ there will be tweaking required, but basically it's still just the same file he wants to use as a basis for that migration. Where that file lives in the file-system will depend on the distro(s). Cheers, Tink |
Normally it's just the squid.conf file that is required (check /usr/local/squid/etc/squid.conf). It's also worth looking in that file for references to other files (e.g. acl lists) and external programs (for authentication etc.).

Wow, that was fast. Thanks so much, you all are awesome! I will let him know everything that was posted. Hopefully, everything is the same; it seems things might be a little more complicated if not.
