How to? Thunderbird ignores default browser setting

Running on LinuxMint (18.1), how do you make Thunderbird (v52) use Chromium (v58) as it's default browser when clicking on a link in an email?

Chromium is set as the system default browser, but Thunderbird apparently ignores that and always uses Firefox instead.

Hi haertig,

Entering thunderbird default browser in Google produces this as the first result:

Let us know how you get on and provide details of what worked, if anything.

Hi haertig
I'm assuming you like Chrome as your default browser. In Desktop settings do the following:-

In system Settings click on preferred settings web change to chrome. You may want to restart Thunderbird.
All links now go to Chrome.

Regards
Ray

Thanks for the replies. I will try this as soon as I get a chance (the computer in question is remote from me).
