How to switch desktop environ???
I did a full install with redhat9 but gnome is used by default and I can't stand it's look. How do I switch to KDE?

Hmmm...had that same problem earlier with Mandrake 9. It kept booting up Gnome. After I logged off and logged into KDE and then shut it down I think it defaults to the last enviorment you were working on. If that doesn't work then log into root and then go to control settings. There should be a toolbox where you can change the boot options. I know this wasn't it my case...but I hope it helps.

Code:
xwmconfig If not, you can edit your ~/.xinitrc and replace gnome-session (if it's there) with "startkde". |
I don't see the option. But I hate Gnome so bad that I'm considering reinstalling to get rid of it. I can't work with it at all and I am at a dead standstill now and no one seems to know how to switch them.
Aha thanks...Ill try that |
On the login screen you will see a button marked "Session". Click it and you will see a list of environments, either default or Gnome will be selected. Select something else and then log on.
Either this time or next time you will be asked if you want to make that your default or revert to Gnome. |
