How to stop LP process at bootup?

I need to remove lp so vmware can get access to the parallel port. I've edited modules.conf (nothing is there to do with lp) and I can't find out how to get rid of this service. I'm running Fedora Test 3.

This is what I have to do now once I'm all booted up which is a hassle.

From the vmware manual...
rmmod lp

You should also ensure that the line referring to the lp module in the /etc/modules.conf or /etc/conf.modules file is removed or commented out by inserting a hash character (#) at the beginning of the line. The name of the configuration file depends on the Linux distribution you are using. When you reboot the host after removing this line, the configuration file no longer starts the lp module.

Any ideas where to find this guy?

check to see if there is something launching lpd in /etc/init.d
if so, remove the link to the lpd launcher in your /etc/rc4.d directory (assuming you are running at runlevel 4 - see your /etc/inittab file to identify your default runleve if you are not sure).

you might also try using serviceconf to deselect lpd
